The boys are going to boarding....why is that such a big deal?

I'm sitting here writing a list of what I need to pack for the boys to go to boarding this weekend (we'll get into why that's pathetic later) and I realize that I am really really nervous and worried about this. Why? Logically I really shouldn't be. They are going to a place that rivals any hotel I have ever been in. They are guaranteed 4-6 hours in the in-ground, chemical free, heated pool and 2 hours on the 46 acre fenced-in property. Not to mention that they get 30 minutes of guaranteed cuddle time as part of their fee. Again, way better than anything I've ever experienced.

So why the nerves?

I have no idea. But I can tell you that I will be a bundle of worries until after they've been there one night. Then I'll relax. Hopefully. It drives DH crazy. Not to mention that I always try to over-pack for them. I just worry that they won't have enough to keep them busy, Jack will climb out of the 8 foot kennel walls, Cody will go into a deep dark depression or bite a sheltie or something equally dramatic. In all reality I'm sure they will be fine and life will motor forward as usual. (God I hope so.)

I wonder if it will be like this when I have bi-ped kids?

I'll update on the boys' adventures on Sunday. (If they haven't been kicked out.....)

I can SO relate!!! When I had to board my dog, Harry, by himself for the first time, I was a NERVOUS WRECK! It was a little bit better after I got my dog, Sally, because I knew they'd have each other. But, they still tuck their tails and look at me like they can't believe I'm doing this to them every time they are boarded. The first few times, I took full advantage of the option for pet parents to call and check up on them as often as they wanted. Now, it's not so bad. I know they are being well cared for, played with, and loved while I'm gone, AND...I also pack a bag of stuff for them. You aren't the only one!

That sounds like a place I'd like to hang out in for a few days! It sure beats the "typical" boarding arrangements, so I wouldn't feel too guilty about putting them at this resort!

I started my dog sitter's "LIST" last night. I'm going on vacation next week & hired this girl to stay at my house. Hopefully I can keep the list under 10 pages. I've already told her she has to call me Every Single Night I'm gone with a full report of how the day went. Hopefully that makes you feel less crazy! :-)

How did your visit to New Germany go, in the end? The reason I ask is because for Christmas my family is coming to MN and somehow, I'm the only dog lover in the bunch. In order to relieve the stress - mainly for my dogs, as they simply cannot understand how they aren't the center of EVERYONE's world (me neither, as a matter of fact), I looked into boarding and came back with a LOT of people who suggested this but no one who's actually BEEN there. Is the pool inside or outside? I'm looking at ten days for two Goldens and I'm already a nervous wreck, in August.
